True, it is a slow-pace movie. However, that aspect is major allotment of the record. In this movie, action is not the genre. So if you choose this is another mech action flick, it will disappoint you so badly and construct you say it aint worth to buying or even watching. Because unlike other 2 movies and TV episodes, camera focuses on two detectives not 2nd team of labor department to lead.

Pro:

1. Sparkling and stuning visual

1. No memorable music score
2. Mixed genre to may confuse most American audiences
3. Less action than any other

I waould say this is another master portion from Patlabor saga, and give it 5 stars without any request.
This review is based on theatrical release.

This movie is quite different from the previous two Patlabor films, which featured thick plots and kindly characterization against a backdrop of just-in-the-future Tokyo, where giant robots (known as “labors”) do most of the work. In Patlabor 3, however, the giant robots are all but forgotten and the significant account is that of a police investigation which takes an extremely sad turn.

The familiar characters, the Mobile Police team, beget only a fast appearance in this movie, and their Special Vehicles patrol labors don’t really seem to have worthy to do even then. Most of the film centers around two detectives investigating why positive labors are being attacked reach the shores of Tokyo. Honest as their search seems to be leading nowhere, they acquire a shadowy discovery in the bowels of a building which opens everything up, and suddenly anything seems possible. I have to say, I started to explore this movie expecting something similar to the other two Patlabor movies, and I was quite surprised at the turns it took away from that angle — surprised in a noble contrivance.

The unique thing is that, despite this, Patlabor 3 serene feels like a Patlabor movie. The insensible, mood-setting shots of industrial Tokyo, the strikingly shapely animation, the skillful creation of suspense, and the soft musical salvage all hearken help to the other two films. There’s not a lot of connection in the tale, but there’s level-headed a astronomical deal of connection in how the chronicle is told.

And, taken on its believe merits, it’s an expedient movie. Lots of twists and turns lead you through a complex sequence of events to what turns out to be a very personal, even lively ending. The denouement of the film lacks the narrative, world-shaking quality of the other two movies, but opts instead to leave the viewer thoughtful and shadowy, as the last few discoveries play against a tragic scene of destruction and death. It left me composed and introspective as the credits rolled.

This is not the same Patlabor account that I’ve seen before, and it’s definitely not quite what I was expecting. But it’s unruffled a attractive anime movie, and well worth watching.

I rented this flick not expecting distinguished. It’s a WWE production and its got Wrestling Superstar Stone Icy Steve Austin in the lead. And though, I loved wrestling encourage in the day was a Stone Icy fan, I really didn’t have the faith that he could act. (Though this role wasn’t exactly a stretch for him!) Well, I can say now that the film is no where as awful as I expected, and except for very demolish, I rather enjoyed it. Yeah, the understanding has been kinda done before (The Running Man comes to mind instantly), but this was a bit of a current twist. Plus, nowadays its hard to advance up with something totally novel anyway. There are some trustworthy action sequences, and co-star Vinnie Jones shines as the ultimate “Terrible Guy”. No, Stone Cold’s performance won’t gather him an Oscar, but for what kind of film this was and role he played, he wasn’t unpleasant. And like I said, I deem Vinnie Jones was the proper star in the film. However, I’m not saying the film is without its flaws. First off, I didn’t like the fact that there was a husband and wife included as one of the 10 condemned. Their characters seemed like some nice couple rather than death row inmates. And at definite other points in the film, some of the prisoners acted out of character. If these 10 people were supposed to be the toughest and meanest people around, they all should’ve acted like it. Some of the sub-plots were kinda lame as well, mainly with the backstory of Austin’s character and his girlfriend/wife. I didn’t like the whole scene of him finding a phone on the island and calling her. The fact that he would call her and not someone who could serve him is kinda absurd. His character was supposed to be some secret government killing machine. You’re telling me he wouldn’t know of anyone you could’ve helped him in out in that region?? Nevertheless, these are minor discrepancies compared to the glaring bullcrap that was in the very demolish of the film. WARNING: Sizable SPOILER AHEAD!! Here’s a scene where we have the “hero” Stone Icy throw a bomb into a helicopter as its taking off. In previous shots, the chopper looked fine damn far up in the air, not to mention all the wind being generated from it during a take-off. Nevertheless, Austin, I recall being a Heisman quarterback, flings it perfectly into the helicopter and the bomb goes off, killing the dreadful guy! Its sequences impartial like this one that I usually discontinue away from these unrealistic, over-the-top action movies. Yes, there was some in this film as well, but nothing that reached this level. Another thing is that you know the ending before you leer the film. I was really hoping that this film would fool me, and that Stone Wintry wouldn’t be the hero of the film, or at least, wouldn’t survive. But my hopes were in vain. How can someone search for a WWE produced film, with a account like this one, that has a famed WWE superstar in it, and not question Austin to be the main star and survive?? But in any case, this film wasn’t all that terrible. And apart from the ending and the crappy music by Nickelback during the ending credits, I found the movie quite delectable. Again, this film won’t be winning any awards, but its definitely worth watching, and perhaps worth owning (for the true ticket), if you’re a fan of the genre.

If Survivor Survivor - Season One was plot up like the rules of the game in The Condemned, the cynic in me suggests that it would rep Tidy Bowl ratings…every week!

WWE (formerly the WWF) star Stone Cool Steve Austin battles with (among others) right life 80s/90s Soccer tough guy phenom Vinnie Jones in a reality Internet TV deathmatch that pits globally convicted prisoners against each other for their price to freedom. “Contestants” are dropped onto a desolate island, and the rules are simple: end or be killed…survive and you breeze free.

Super Bowl ratings are indeed the goal of event creator Ian Breckel (played by weak character actor Robert Mammone) . But alas, it’s magnificent certain why The Condemned never drew a Desirable Bowl-like audience to the theaters. The movie starts out magnificent thrilling. Generous action. Big fight scenes. Rotten one-on-one violence. What’s not to like?

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Condemned! Click Here

The movie completely collapses during the last 45 minutes, and I definite didn’t like that. The scenarios and situations become as unrealistic and predictable as it gets.

But perhaps all is not lost. Maybe Jeff Probst and Heed Burnett were watching and were inspired! Yes…let’s change the rules for Survivor and bring succor the most hated contestants for a season of the demonstrate with The Condemned-rules: Johnny Fairplay, Susan Hawk, Richard Hatch with special celebrity appearances by OJ and Rosie O’Donnell? A Yes vote below if you’d watch; a No vote if you wouldn’t.

Hailed by critics as one of the more principal films of the 80s, “Colors” nonetheless is a fairly straightforward tragedy–there’s no other direction for the anecdote to assume. Robert Duvall plays a venerable police officer working L.A.’s mean streets; hothead Sean Penn joins his Wreck anti-gang unit, predictably testing the elder partner’s patience and reserve as he objective tries to withhold the peace and construct it through that final year to retirement. Both actors bring more depth to their cliched roles than might be expected, playing off each other surprisingly well, even in moments where they are given microscopic more to do than react. But “Colors” offers no staunch answers to anything. The cops are presented mostly as well-armed zookeepers, while the gang members, blessed with youth and health but not mighty brains, speed violently about, making the tale mostly a series of aimless confrontations. Art imitating life? Maybe. But careful audiences might feel they’ve been bamboozled, despite director Dennis Hopper’s rather lofty prefer on it. With some scenes that are genuinely tragic and gripping–the shooting of an unarmed suspect and the movie’s final scene, to name two–and a romantic subplot that deserved more time–Maria Conchita Alonso seems to impartial collect warmed up as a unpleasant girl flirting with the belief of being good–”Colors” seems to have more going for it than it really does. Contemplate it mainly for the performances and the suggestion of complexity.

Dennis Hopper presented an unseen vision of Americana with EASY RIDER in 1969. It unsettled the masses. He did the same almost 20 years later with COLORS, a frightfully realistic examine at urban gang warfare in Los Angeles. Hopper has always been a talent, both in front and slack the camera. COLORS could only be handled by the likes of an independent spirit like Hopper: It’s tough, brutal, no watered down studio gloss, no techno effects. Hopper is an actors director and Robert Duvall and Sean Penn are a perfect fit. The oft told cop sage of the obsolete and the novice gets an injection of modern life: the partners don’t like each other, they tolerate each other for the sake of survival. Duvall and Penn give strong expected performances and the record rifles along free of expected cliches. Ice-T, in his rapper days (pre LAW & ORDER: SVU) is featured on the soundtrack.

This nature documentary is a 90-minute mini-version of the powerful longer Planet Earth produced by the BBC. The latter production took five years to invent, had a $25 million budget, and employed the latest in photographic technology. The well-kept monotonous motion and time lapse techniques are especially impressive. Watching the twelve-month transformation of a forest in 30 seconds is spectacular. Earth focuses on three animal “families”–a polar occupy and two cubs, a herd of elephants, and then a mother and baby humpback whale that fabricate a 4,000 mile migration. In between these three stories the film intersperses takes from the longer documentary. My only complaint is that this production oversells the product with music that at times is both melodramatic and cutesy, and a corny narration that is clearly intended for young children (”Time for mom and dad to fix breakfast for junior!”) . If there is any nature photography that does not need hype, this enormous cover version is it. Unruffled, like its longer predecessor, Earth makes for astounding family viewing.

If you’ve seen Planet Earth already, there is no reason at all to gape this. All this movie is is bits and pieces of Planet Earth. It impartial makes no sense.

I really enjoyed this film, based upon the Pulitzer Prize winning current, “The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Fancy” by Oscar Hijuelos. With its sexy, pulsating, and rhythmic soundtrack, as well as the strong performances by the entire cast, this film is highly fascinating.

The events in this sharply stylized period film grasp set in the nineteen fifties, at the height of the mambo dance craze. Two young Cuban musicians, brothers Cesar (Armand Assante) and Nestor Castillo (Antonio Banderas), soar Cuba after a appreciate triangle takes a potentially deadly twist. The esteem sick Nestor leaves late the savor of his life, the fine Maria Rivera (Talisa Soto), now married to his romantic rival.

The brothers near in Current York, where Cesar meets the lushly sensuous, blonde bombshell, Lana Lake (Cathy Moriarty) . They eventually marry, while Nestor, calm carrying a torch for Maria, meets the sedate and quietly blooming Delores Fuentes (Maruschka Detmers), whom he eventually marries. Given a helping hand by fellow Cuban, Desi Arnaz, Sr. (Desi Arnaz, Jr.), Cesar and Nestor shortly become stars of the dance halls and clubs they play, where they are christened the “Mambo Kings”.

Unfortunately, Cesar’s dreams are not necessarily Nestor’s dreams and conflicts arise. The brothers also bustle into pains when Cesar’s arrogance pits him against a musical syndicate that rules the clubs and dance halls with an iron hand, derailing their careers for a time. Moreover, Nestor’s marriage is seriously stupefied, because of his obsession with his lost appreciate. Calm, no matter what, there is always the music.

Armand Assante gives an over-the-top, manic performance as Cesar, the older brother whose arrogance and single-minded ambition nearly alienates his brother. He over-acts the share, making his character almost cartoonish, at times. It is as if he were drowning in his have machismo. Peaceful, he infuses the role with a obvious energy that makes him strangely compelling. Moreover, the guy can really dance!

It is the bittersweet performance by Antonio Banderas, however, that takes one’s breath away. Antonio Banderas infuses the role of the artistic, younger brother, Nestor, with a poignancy, sensitivity, and sensuousness that is much. He handles the role with a delicacy that nearly brought tears to my eyes. Banderas makes the viewer feel Nestor’s injure, so palpable is his inconvenience over his lost fancy, Maria. When he sings his ode to her, “”Magnificent Maria of My Soul”, the viewer is transfixed, so beautifully does he utter it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Mambo Kings! Click Here

Look for a cameo by the slack Tito Puente. The gradual Celia Cruz also appears in this film, cast as Evalina Montoya, a accepted club singer. The viewer is in for a treat with these two salsa greats doing what they do best. It was also somewhat eerie to stare the role of Desi Arnaz, Sr. played by his steady life son, Desi Arnaz, Jr., as the resemblance is so much, accurate down to the accent. Special ticket should also be taken of Roscoe Lee Brown’s silky performance as club impresario Fernando Perez.

The film captures the flavor of the nineteen fifties, when night clubs were synonymous with night life, and grand bands mild held sway. I particularly enjoyed this film, because my parents emigrated from Cuba. Having grown up in Fresh York City during the nineteen fifties, this film holds a sure amount of nostalgia for me.

Definitely on my top 10. The Mambo Kings has several things that design it an all time accepted. First, it uses the medium to pull you in an give you the feeling you are portion of the moment. The sets, costumes, cars, and music are detailed to perfection. Especially the music! Cameo’s by the sizable singers of Cuban music accomplish it trusty. Celia Cruz and the unhurried Tito Puente are awesome! The theme song is blooming and nothing less than haunting. Check out astonishing soundtrack.

Second, the station takes some current twists and turns. The relationship between two brother seems formulaic at the beginning and then both characters net unexpected depth and traits. I own that both Antonio Banderas (this was his first Hollywood film) and Armand Assante give their best performances to date.

Harry Nilsson had a point and knew exactly what it was. This allegorical classic had a simple but scream message–accept everyone for who they are and not force them to fit into a preconceived belief of who they should be. Oblio and Arrow his dog are banned from the town they live in. Why? Because the Scandalous Count decides that anyone that can beat his son at a game (misuse of power) and looks different (Oblio’s the only child with a round head not a pointed head) shouldn’t be allowed in the town. He’s called pointless by the Count and others. But Oblio in Nilsson’s extended allegory finds that nothing is pointless least of all himself.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Point! Click Here

A charming film beefy of shimmering imagery, “The Point” remains a classic to this day regardless of which one of the narrators you heard when you saw it. For the characterize, Dustin Hoffman was the new narrator. He was replaced by Ringo Starr and, then, finally Alan Thicke (of “Growing Effort” fame) . The narrator on the unique album was, of course, Nilsson himself. He would have done a enjoyable job of narrating this bright classic but elected to go with a professional “actor” in each case.

There’s not remarkable in the plan of extras. We can go directly to each song which is a nice touch although including Nilsson’s recent album (with his narration) would have been nice. Also, what about deleted scenes, a gallery of character designs and, perhaps, some footage of Nilsson himself? Ah well, perhaps next time.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Point! Click Here

The characterize quality is quite trustworthy although there’s some minor analog imperfections such as dirt and debris but, on the whole, the film looks remarkably ample. The soundtrack recorded in mono has more presence than the videotape version. I would have liked a surround mix of the modern songs but that would have required remixing the fresh album mastertapes and that’s probably not going to happen anytime soon. Also catch up Harry’s album of the same name. The reissue of Harry’s classic album supervised by Curtis Armstrong (yes, THE Curtis Armstrong of “Moonlighting Fame” and who gave a advantageous performance as the owner Ahmet Ertegunof Atlantic Records in “Ray”) includes two early versions of songs that ended up on the album as well as a replica of the unique booklet that came with the album.

I remember watching this cartoon almost 20 years ago - and then again, honest 2 years ago on a worn-out VHS. The message is simple yet to the point: In fact, everything has a point. And the music is so very sharp - from “Me and my arrow” to “Are you sleeping”. If you like Beatles - type music, you’ll care for this soundtrack. The cartoons are simplistic yet never humdrum and may actually befriend in getting the message of this movie more clearly.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Point! Click Here

The movie starts with us being introduced to a village in which everything has a physical point. People gaze like coneheads. Dogs, homes - everything has a physical point. The birth of a boy with round head causes disaster in the village which ultimately leads to him being banished. Most of the movie depicts Oblio’s adventures with his dog named Arrow in the “Pointless Forest”. After learning some famous lessons, he returns to his village. Rather than spoiling the ending, I’ll let you pick up out the outcome.

Mario Bava was one of the most underrated filmmakers of the 20th century. So it’s appropriate that the first volume of the “Mario Bava Collection” (or “Bava Box”) was one of the best releases of the last year, and reintroduced us to classics of Bava’s that had fallen out of view. The second volume just continues that tradition, with big chunks of classic, stylish horror.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Bava Box Set, Vol. 2! Click Here

“Baron Blood” begins the collection — Baron Otto Van Kleist was a savage, depraved guy who liked to torture people for fun (think Vlad Tepes), until a witch’s curse put him out of commission. Centuries later, his descendent Peter (Antonio Cantafora) returns to his family’s gothic castle, and decides that he and visiting student Eva (Elke Sommer) will recite the incantation that will return “Baron Blood” to the world. Of course, he actually DOES return, and soon Peter, Eva and Peter’s uncle are forced to battle his psychotic, deformed ancestor.

“Lisa and the Devil” is more or less what it sounds like, with our heroine Lisa (Elke Sommer) a tourist going through Italy. She encounters some freaky folklore involving a local painting of the Devil and the Dead — and a man (Telly Savalas) who eerily resembles the painted Satan. When her travel group is invited by the man to stay at a spooky villa, Lisa becomes ensnared in a maze of nightmares and death.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Bava Box Set, Vol. 2! Click Here

Then we get something that ISN’T gothic horror — “Roy Colt and Winchester Jack,” a comedy-western. Failed outlaw Roy Colt (Brett Halsey) has decided to become a law-abiding sheriff — until he learns of a treasure map to buried gold. Of course, he scurries after it — but to get his hands on it, he’ll have to beat out an Indian prostitute, a dynamiting Russian Reverand, and his old partner Winchester Jack (Charles Southwood).

Then it’s “Four Times That Night,” a colourful, campy take on Akira Kurosawa’s”Rashomon.” Suave Gianni (Brett Halsey) starts pursuing shy, chaste Tina (Daniela Giordano), until she agrees to date him. The night ends with his face scratched and her dress shredded — at first glance, you’d think he just got too grabby, and she fought him off. But there are four different versions of what happened that night, and none of them agree…

Then it’s back to gore and horror, with one of the very first slasher flicks. “Bay Of Blood” opens with the death of a countess and her murdering husband. After their demise, the area is crowded with real-estate agents, entomologists, secret heiresses and sex-mad teens looking for a place to party. Then, of course, they start dying off… and not just from one person.

Finally we get “Five Dolls For An August Moon,” a remake of Agatha Christie’s “Ten Little Indians”: Wealthy industrialist George Stark (Teodoro Corrà) gathers a group of friends and associates on his private island, trying to get a new formula from chemist Fritz Farrell (William Berger). As the guests get tangled in sexual and business intrigues, someone starts murdering them…

Unlike many directors, Mario Bava didn’t need massive budgets or CGI to create his brilliant movies — just good actors and a haunting backdrop. Gothic castles with dungeons, misty forests, psychedelic islands and clubs, eerie villas, and the dangerous streets of Italy are all used here, and performances that range from brilliant (Steele) to merely good (Halsey).

In fact, Bava was such a brilliant director that he take a cliche or subpar movie (such as “Baron Blood”), and turn it into something unique and deep. He made use of misty lighting, eerie camerawork, exquisite use of light and shadow, gory deaths and odd symbolism. A few also splash in some psychedelic colour and sex. And he was usually able to work in an unexpected, sometimes shocking twist to each movie’s ending.

“Mario Bava Collection Volume 2″ is a collection of five excellent movies, ranging from brilliant to enjoyable. And it’s a good demonstration of Bava’s talents, and the kinds of movies he could undertake — a treasure for horror buffs.

Having just picked this up, I thought I’d chime in with this second box set from Anchor Bay. While the comparison will seem strange, Like Orson Welles, and this is speaking from public perception, Mario Bava’s debut film, ‘Black Sunday’, was so impressive that many of his subsequent releases were dismissed as sub par or viewed as schlock. Of course, many of these critics overlooked the consistent artistry that could be found throughout Bava’s filmography.

While Volume 1 focused on a number of his most iconic and famous films from the early to mid sixties, Volume 2 focus’ on his late 60s til mid 70s output, to good effect I might add. His film, ‘Four Times That Night’ (1968), is a sex comedy with a Rashomon flavored theme. A mild mannered man, and a seemingly virtuous woman have a date, which leads to the kind of mishap that triggers three wildly different perspectives, from the man, woman and a spectator. It’s very much a film of the late sixties, fun, good film, but not great. A fair share of nudity and sexual content, which makes it not accessible for minors, fair warning.

‘5 Dolls For an August Moon’ (1970) features several impressive visual sequences and succeeds due to some great art direction. A young scientist with an industrial formula to sell, has invited a group of rich industrialist to a small island, along with their wives or lovers. Everyone has a range of motives when the guests and scientist start to be killed off. This even has elements of a spy thriller, via ‘Diabolik’ at certain moments. Apparently this film has divided critics of Bava. It’s a pretty good attempt at a non occult thriller.

Bava has been so tied to his reputation as a director of horror pictures, people tend to not realize he was varied enough to work in the Western genre, as well as sword and sandal Viking pictures, which makes ‘Roy Colt and Winchester Jack’ (1970) a fun picture. A satirical Western with an affectionate nod to Sergio Leone, a pair of good-natured outlaws on a hunt for a fortune in gold. While not a masterpiece, it demonstrates that Bava could work in the Western genre with a twist. Having said that, it’s basically cashing in on the success of ‘Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid’.

Next up, ‘Bay of Blood’ (1971) a.k.a. ‘Twitch of the Death Nerve’. One of the seminal films in the development of the slasher horror genre. Much has been written already about the ways in which Sean Cunningham and Miner borrowed from this film in the making of the first two ‘Friday the 13th’ films. Bava’s film is not for the faint of heart, yet unlike the FT13 films, there’s a plausible motive behind most of the killings, the greed of a family inheritance. Feminist film critics will often dismiss Bava for being a misogynist, yet often in Bava’s pictures women are just as capable to commit murder as men, aside from the fact that Bava shows a real reverence towards women, as complicated souls with desires. Some have dismissed this film and yet, unlike many slasher films where there’s a detached focus on the spectacle of violence, one is left not comfortable with the carnage. There’s a black, fatalistic, ironic view and subtext here about how violence feeds on itself, as well as an ecological theme that is highly skeptical for the need for humanity.

For most Bava fan’s, ‘Baron Blood’ (1972) has remained a favorite, featuring a good and menacing performance from Joseph Cotton as the resurrected Baron. Elke Sommer’s performance isn’t as memorable as her role in ‘Lisa’, which we’ll get to in a moment. Bava has always excelled at producing Gothic horror and he delivers this film with a lot of flare. The modern relative of Otto von Kleist, the infamous Baron of the 16th Century, inadvertently resurrects the Baron from the ancient spell of a witch he burned at the stake. Cotton manages a good, menacing and slightly off performance until the revelation of his character.

The less that’s said about ‘The House of Exorcism’, the better, in spite of the fact that Lamberto Bava assisted with the re-shoots. ‘Lisa and The Devil’ (1973) is another matter. Lisa, a tourist, sees a fresco of the devil leading away the dead, and this triggers her into a Labyrinth of a dark fable. Is this her fevered imagination? Is she being lured by the devil? Is she the resurrected spirit of a lover from another era? ‘Lisa’ is Bava’s most surreal, cryptic and layered film as well as beautiful. Telly Savalas is wonderful as a charming, sophisticated and ruthless beelzebubb. Elke Sommer delivers a compelling performance. A definite break from the usual supernatural film.

‘Rabid Dogs’ (1974) a.k.a. ‘Kidnapped’, would have been the definitive final statement from Bava had it seen a proper release. Sadly, when the film’s financier died, his entire estate as well as the print of the film was seized by the Italian Court. A marked stylistic difference from Bava’s other work, a gritty Euro-Crime drama. During a botched payroll heist, a trio of criminals hijack a woman and a man who is driving a sick child to a hospital. The degradation of the woman is probably one of the most disturbing aspects. A very gritty film that one could see as a real inspiration for a director like Tarantino.

This second set is a little more thin in the extras. Unlike the special segments produced for the ‘Black Sunday, Girl Who Knew Too Much’, and ‘Black Sabbath’. The only new special segments added are from ‘Kidnapped’, and that disc was already released as a separate package. Considering, that I believe at this writing, Elke Sommer is still alive, I’m surprised that no new interviews were conducted for her reflections about working on ‘Baron Blood’ or ‘Lisa’. There are new commentaries from Bava expert, Tim Lucas for ‘Lisa and the Devil, Baron Blood’ and ‘Bay of Blood’, all excellent, the commentary for ‘Bay of Blood’ is a little looser for a Lucas commentary. An additional older commentary of ‘Lisa’ with Elke Sommer and Alfredo Leone is included. All of the film prints are excellent and presented in the usual widescreen ratios of 1.85:1 or 1.78:1. The films ‘5 Dolls’ and ‘Four Times’ are included on a duel disc. Many of the films include trailers, radio spots, or Poster and still galleries. Unfortunately, there’s no production liner notes in any of the sets or updated biographies. Thus, the reason for the rating.

Hopefully, this will do well enough to give Anchor Bay grounds to release more titles. Pardon the length, Bava’s work is frequently unforgettable, beautiful, macabre, disturbing and unique, don’t miss this.

If you are exquisite familiar with the applications of makeup, then this may not be for you. It goes over the basics which I already familiar with. They could have also done a better job blending the makeup on a couple of the models (even though the models applied the makeup themselves) . However, there are not many African-American how-to-apply makeup DVD’s on the market so I am cheerful to add this to my collection.

I bought this DVD for my daughters and they loved it. Their skin looks better and they wear makeup like a lady should. My husband who never says anything made a comment on how well the girls behold. It may not be for the glamous movie star type that may have a professional do their face anyway, but it’s perfect for learning how to care for your skin and eye your best at work and out for the evening.

Amazon does NOT differentiate its reviews of titles (be it book/DVD’s/vhs etc) by this or that edition by any of the many companies that release them….so your review of the cheapy public domain Alpha dvd(to name honest one of the several CRAP distributors of obsolete movies) and the words you write about the restored lovely print Kino International(to name one of the very safe distributors of ancient movies) will be all on the same page, WHATEVER version you have selected!!

Having said that, my review is of the KINO dvd release, a very glowing one as this company does not distribute anything less(you pay more, but if you know anything about restful and classic movies it will be no secret to you that if you pay peanuts that is exactly what you will pick up….) …it is however disconserting to look that even the best available dvd release mild hasn’t been cleaned up to the degree that other classic restful masterpieces have..surely with todays technology a digital “hoovering” of this film is not too considerable to ask.

Wonderful film of course, but you know that otherwise you wouldn’t even be reading these reviews, and the KINO version is, so far, the best you can catch for your money.

I had watched many poorly-made VHS tapes of this film and was very elated a restored version came out on video. There’s probably no better procedure to explore this film. This visual heavenly quiet German film tells the yarn of a excited doctor who trains a sleepwalker to waste people in order to gawk the effects of somnambulism. Filled with images resembling one’s nightmare (or the mind status of a mentally-ill) — distorted views, deformed spaces, bizarre lights and shadows — this film in 1919 helped usher in a modern era of German Expressionism, a period that produced such classics as The Last Laugh, Nosferatu, and Metropolis.

This DVD is identical in boom to the laserdisc from Image a few years ago, with the exception that the LD included a detailed letter explaining why there is a faint horizontal line reach the top of the conceal in positive scenes (it’s a misplaced “frame line” that is supposed to sign the edge of a frame) . The DVD merely mentions on the jacket case that this is a “defect” on the film negative. Like the LD, this DVD also presents the film in a “windowbox”, ensuring every frame can be seen in tubby.

The audio commentary on the alternate sound track is thoughtful and insightful, but the commentator reiterates worthy of what appears on the jacket essay. Other extras include a few comtemporary photographs related to the film, and a short tranquil film from the Expressionist era.

Actually, “Nights in Rodanthe” borders on a 5 star movie. Some might explore the savor emotion between the 2 main characters a bit powerful, but not for those shining the dissimilarity of a second chance romance. Some might feel the reaction to the pair’s child woes out of the ordinary, but probably not people familiar with kids whose parents faced mega issues.

The setting (Rodanthe, NC) is a pleasure in itself, and the perfect vacation area. So why not the perfect status for the perfect affair? Richard Gere as Paul gives his all into this tale, and he’s definite to acquire the hearts of nearly all the ladies. His Rodanthe interest, Adrienne (Diane Lane), will melt the heart of any males intrepid enough to witness. They exhaust a weekend, unplanned & alone, through a hurricane on the skim, each facing heartache from relationships with children, and each facing a major decision. They are at the perfect residence, the perfect time, perfect for each other, creating a perfect script and a delight to survey. However the anecdote is not always progressing and ending the arrangement you might put a question to. I’ll not give away all of the legend, for those who have not read the book, nor been to the theater.

A sure keeper. It made me want to vow my spouse, “I savor you.” And SHE liked the movie even more.

This is a staunch tear-jerker. The acting is incredible and the emotions seem very loyal. The legend line is well-considered, but it is definitely not the typical fancy chronicle. The best map to portray this film is that it unprejudiced feels staunch. You could imagine the characters being pulled off the shroud and placed in the “accurate world” without any pickle. I would definitely recommend Nights in Rodanthe to those who like a capable appreciate account with plenty of drama.
